Fumiya

  • udon

This udon shop has been in business for over 70 years, and there is almost always a queue at lunchtime. It has been supported by local customers for many years because of its continued generous use of ingredients and time to produce delicious food. Good dashi stock is indispensable for udon in Kyoto. Using natural ingredients, their artisans carefully prepare the dashi every day.

The specialty of this restaurant is the “Fumiya nabe” hot noodle pot, which bears the restaurant’s name. The flavors of the thickly battered tempura, stretchy rice cake, tasty shiitake mushrooms, egg, fu (gluten cake), and other ingredients blend deliciously with the dashi broth.

Chicken tempura, kayaku gohan rice mixed with seasonal ingredients, and other dishes can also be paired with udon noodles.
Udon noodles with Kujo leeks, udon noodles with fried tofu skin, and other dishes special to Kyoto are available.
