Founded in 1897, this shop has a history of over 120 years. Counted from the first owner, Hanshichi Watanabe, the current owner is the fourth generation. The store began as a retailer of fresh fish and now focuses on the preparation, processing, and sales of seafood such as fugu (puffer fish), pike conger eel, and oysters. In addition to small packs of sashimi such as wild sea bream, kampachi (greater amberjack), and blood clams, oysters with shells and deep-fried fugu are also available.

"We have a variety of foods that can only be enjoyed in Kyoto," they say. "We offer sashimi, fugu (deep fried, boiled, etc.), oysters, and more to please both locals and tourists. Please enjoy the best foods of the season."

They are especially popular for their fugu, such as fugu sashimi and fuguhire-zake (fugu fin in sake). At the end of the year, fugu for nabe (hot pot) is lined up in the store.
They carefully select and purchase seafood from Kyoto's central market, Akashi, Osaka, Wakayama, and other places.
